Confucius and the Nissan Leaf
This week Carlocate.com has gone out and managed to get an interview with Confucius via his translator here is the transcript as it occurred.
Carlocate.com- Confucius as a wise man, some might say the wisest man, what car did you pick out for yourself.
Confucius- I went with the Nissan LEAF as it practices the five things everywhere under heaven that constitutes a perfect car…efficiency, reliability, modesty, economical feasibility, and environmental conscientiousness.
Carlocate.com- Some would want to know why you didn’t pick a better looking car that is more regal for a man of your stature.
Confucius- As I always say, everything has its beauty but not everyone sees it.
Carlocate.com- Wise words, even still, while traveling around China with your followers perhaps you might have wanted a larger vehicle. Something like an SUV to cart around your disciples and books of proverbs?
Confucius- He who will not economize will have to agonize.
Carlocate.com- True, very true, but wouldn’t you want a car that could go faster than the Nissan LEAF to get across a country as large as China?
Confucius- It does not matter how slowly you go, so long as you do not stop.
Carlocate.com- So the parable goes, slow and steady does win the race I guess. What would you say to all the people buying large vehicles and sports cars instead of the LEAF?
Confucius- What the superior man seeks is in himself; what the small man seeks is in others.
Carlocate.com- Hmmm… very thought provoking, but what about those confident people who just like sports cars or large SUV?
Confucius- To see what is rights and not to do it is want of courage.
Carlocate.com- So you’re saying that people who don’t pick more fuel efficient cars are trying to compensate and are cowards?
Confucius- When emissions rise, think of the consequences.
Carlocate.com- Very true, the environment is very important, but wouldn’t you say the government is doing a good enough job of regulating greenhouse gases now and that electric cars are just a hassle?
Confucius- The superior car, while developing in safety, does not forget that pollution still comes. When in a state of low gas prices he does not forget the possibility of inflation. When all is cool and crisp, he does not forget that global warming may come. This car is not endangered, and its company and all their brands will be preserved.
Carlocate.com- Very sage business advice from Confucius; I think many car companies should listen to this man. Okay, last question, aside from the benefits provided by driving the LEAF was there any advertising campaign or social media that influenced your decision to purchase the LEAF?
Confucius- Fine words and an insinuating appearance are seldom associated with true virtue…but in the LEAF’s case it’s one of those seldom times.
Carlocate.com-Haha, well thanks for the interview Confucius and to all our readers check back in two weeks for another installment of “Past Figures, Present Rides”.
Background Information:
Confucius was a philosopher born in China in 551BC. These thoughts were organized into a system practiced by many in Asian countries. This system/philosophy is known as Confucianism. His teachings were compiled into a book called the Analects of Confucius which is a collection of aphorisms and was a key proponent of the golden rule, “Do not do to others what you do not want done to yourself.”
