About Porsche
In 1931 Ferdinand Porsche and his son-in-law founded the company Dr. Ing. h. c. F. Porsche GmbH. In the beginning
the company offered motor vehicle development work and consulting; but did not build any cars under its name. One of the first
assignments the company received was from the German government and was a request to design a car for the people; this resulted
in the Volkswagen Beetle. The first Porsche, the Porsche 64 was designed in 1939 using many components from the Beetle. The Porsche
336 was the first car actually sold by Porsche in 1947. In 1972 the company changed its company model from a limited partnership
to a public limited company which led to the foundation of an Executive Board whose members were those outside of the Porsche family.
Today Porsches are sold worldwide including in the U.S., Mexico, Europe, South America, the Middle East and Africa. In 2010 Porsche
Automobil Holding SE had profits of $23.1 billion before taxes.
The 2012 Porsche 911 Carrera is making its appearance this December and has been completely redesigned for the new year. It's
newer flat, stretched silhouette, exciting contours, and precisely design details give it a new look, yet it remains unmistakably a
911. The new 911 model furthers the span of contradictory attributes such as performance and efficiency, sportiness, and everyday
practicality that has always typified the Porsche 911.
