About Ford
Ford has been the symbol of American strength for over 100 years. Founded in June of 1903 by Henry Ford, with $28,000 in
cash from twelve investors, Ford introduced the Model T in 1908. They then began mass production with the introduction of the assembly line. Ford
used elaborate manufacturing sequences and an industrial workforce to produce automobiles. Lincoln and Mercury became brands of Ford in 1922 and
1939 respectively. After restructuring in 2010 Ford discontinued the Mercury brand.
Today, Ford is the second largest automaker in the U.S. and the fourth largest in the world. They currently operate in all of North America,
South America, Europe, China and South Africa. In 2010 their total annual sales totaled $120.9 billion selling over 5.3 million vehicles. 2010 was
one of Ford's best years in the last 10 years as a result of strong products and new investments.
Ford's newest innovation for 2012 is the 2012 Ford Focus electric. The Focus Electric runs exclusively on electricity stored in powerful batteries.
This all-electric vehicle never needs a drop of gas and runs emission free. A unique instrument panel allows the driver to closely monitor their energy
consumption when driving, to make sure they get the most miles out of every charge.
