Chrysler Group Sees Best September Sales since 2007

Driven by a 50 percent retail sales increase the Chrysler Group saw a total increase in sales for the month of September of 27 percent, including retail and fleet sales. Certain models significantly contributed to this increase including the Chrysler 200 and Town & Country, Jeep Wrangler and Compass, and Dodge Journey and Grand Caravan. This month’s increase in sales is the 18th- consecutive month of year-over-year sales gains. “Irrespective of the economy, strong products equal strong sales…and that is what we have,” says Reid Bigland, President and CEO – Dodge Brand and Head of U.S. Sales.

BMW Group Sees Increase despite Fall in MINI sales

BMW Group saw a total increase in September sales by 11.4 percent compared to September 2010. Year to date sales have increased by 14.2 percent compared to the same months as last year. BMW brand vehicles increased sales by 19.3 percent. Despite a decrease in sales this month MINI brand has a year to date increase in sales by 20.4 percent. “The good results in September are remarkable given the general view of the economy…and people will spend provided you have the right products and offer value,” says Ludwig Willisch, President and CEO, BMW of North America.

Nissan North America Sales Rise in September

This week Nissan reported an increase in sales over last September of 25.3 percent.  Nissan brand vehicles saw an increase in sales of 28.2 percent over last year and Infiniti brand vehicles sold 2.1 percent more compared to the prior year. The Nissan Versa saw a record September with an increase in sales of 68.1 percent over the prior year. Strong sales of the Nissan Altima and Maxima helped to add to the overall increase in Nissan sales. “Thanks to a strong and diverse lineup of cars and trucks, Nissan division sales marked the best September in 26 years,” said Al Castignetti, vice president and general manager, Nissan Division.

General Motor Sees Increase in September Sales

General Motors Company saw an increase in sales compared to last September of 20 percent. Passenger car sales increased 12 percent, crossover sales increased 7 percent and truck sales, which include full-size pickups and SUVs, increased 34 percent. The Chevrolet Cruze had increased sales, as well as the Silverado and Tahoe whose sales increased 36 and 63 percent respectively.  GMC sales increased by 23% bringing their increase in sales to 24-consecutive months; and Cadillac saw an increase in sales compared to September 2010 of 16.2 percent. Buick brand saw the highest increase in sales under the GM group with an increase in sales of 24.1 percent. According to Don Johnson, vice president, U.S. Sales Operations, GM is “well positioned going forward because we have a momentum and another wave of fuel-efficient passenger cars launching over the next several months at Chevrolet, Buick, and Cadillac.”
