Sigmund Freud and the Dodge Charger SRT8
Carlocate.com: Once again we are here with “Past Figures, Present Rides” and we have a special treat for the readers here as today as we have with us Sigmund Freud, famous author and psychologist. So Dr. Freud I suppose the question on everyone’s mind is what is your dream car?
Freud: My dream car is the 2012 Dodge Charger SRT8. It’s great for unlocking all of that emotional repression that builds up and all of it is transferred through 470 horses unto the pavement. Also my mother really likes the Dodge Charger.
Carlocate.com: Yes I’m sure you sought parental approval before buying your car, who doesn’t, but I just wanted to say the Dodge Charger choice seems to me like you’re trying to make some sort of statement.
Freud: It is probably an attempt of my rational ego to suppress my super-ego which must be disturbed after I didn’t buy the most practical car. While the Charger is fun to drive, my brain keeps telling me I should buy a Chevrolet Volt instead as it’s more environmentally sound and cheaper.
Carlocate.com: Yes, the Volt certainly is a great car but it just can’t match the Dodge Charger SRT8 in terms of performance. Which sort of leads me to my next question which is since some women consider you a misogynist and the Charger is sort of seen or advertised as a man’s car does this further influence woman’s opinions about you when you drive?
Freud: I’ve seen a lot of woman envious of my fine vehicle, but it makes sense as the Charger is a large and powerful vehicle that most women secretly wish they had. Personally, I love how a fast car really gets your life and death drives going. In fact, that’s why I’ve always bought SRT division vehicles; I’ve always tried to keep my purchases inside the SRT family.
Carlocate.com: Yes the SRTs are quite attractive but the price for them is high. Is there anything else though you like about the Dodge Charger SRT8?
Freud: I like the handling, when I’m driving it there is little slipping. In fact, I’m pretty sure there is nothing I dislike about the Camaro SS.
Carlocate.com: Was that a car Freudian Slip Doctor?
Freud: No, I swear I’ve always consciously loved the Dodge Charger SRT8. My unconscious though might like the Camaro more though…I must investigate this immediately, excuse me I must go.
Carlocate.com: Doctor we still have two more questions for you! Doctor...Well folks sorry about that, this is what happens from time to time when you have geniuses on your blog. Anyway we’ll bring you some more “Past Figures, Present Rides” next week.
Background Information:
Sigmund Freud was a prominent Psychologist in the early 1900’s. His theories on the unconscious, repression, ego, dream interpretation, and sexuality formed the basis of many theories in the field of psychology. Many of these ideas are still in practice but are heavily disputed by the experts in this field. The common phrase Freudian slip is attributed to his ideas on the unconscious mind and sexuality. Freud died in September 1939 with assistance from Max Shur who helped him commit suicide medicinally (large dose of morphine), as Freud had contracted a painful mouth cancer from years of smoking.
