Week 10
Worst Cars to Survive the Zombie Apocalypse Runner-Up: Plymouth Prowler
As another year passes us by and another year approaches, it is hard to not hear some predictions of the end of the world as we know it! If this were to truly happen, it could easily happen slowly as the human race falls apart into an army of zombies. “Zombies!?” you say!? Yea, that is what we said about the chances of the end of the world!
What does this have to do with CarLocate? Well, we want you to be prepared and want to help you find the appropriate car for your survival. In this tip, we want to point out a car to avoid regardless of if your approach is to run from, avoid, or take on the zombies head-on.
One vehicle to put in the back of your mind as one to avoid is the Plymouth Prowler. In production from 1997 to 2002, this niche vehicle looks fun but is far from ideal in a world run by wandering and attacking zombies.
To start, while it looks really fast, it only puts out 214 horsepower with the V6 also commonly found in Chrysler sedans of that era. When you think about protection from the elements, consider that this baby is far from a tank. The top was only available in the soft form, giving minimal barrier to a swinging zombie fist, baseball bat, crowbar, or whatever the weapon of choice happens to be. If your approach to the world is “hang out of the side of the car with your arms swinging”, this might be a good one for you but in all reality, you will still need something between you and them (the living undead) at times.
This vehicle is also a far cry from a bulldozer, just look at all of the exposed parts up front! One impact with a zombie or other vehicle and your front suspension is toast! While run-flat tires were an option, there is no room for a spare tire in this guy, nor room for any of your belongings. Good luck if you puncture one of these tires, let alone the fact that the rears are a huge 295/40VR20! Not a tire you might easily find at an abandoned neighborhood shop. Speaking of damage, the rear body panels, rocker panels and front fenders are all made of plastic. Have you ever seen the plastic panels of a Saturn after impact? That’s right, pieces everywhere!
While you might look cool in this car at first, in a world of survival, you are better off investing in something with a bit more function. Trade it in for at least a VW Rabbit!
