Chrysler Town & Country and Dodge Grand Caravan are Recalled a Second Time

If you wondering why you aren’t seeing many caravans of minivans swarming around in a town and/or country near you it’s because Chrysler is recalling their 2008 Dodge Grand Caravan and Chrysler Town & Country minivans…again.

The first recall centered on the vehicles HVAC drain grommet leaking moisture into the ORC module (occupant restraint system) which caused inadvertent airbag deployment. Apparently, Chrysler’s quality control team has as many leaks and faults in their minivans, as they are getting recalled again for a similar problem. Once again, the ORC modules are under scrutiny as Chrysler believes that moisture is still sneaking in and causing the printed circuit board to delaminate. This could cause decreased or delayed performance or once again cause inadvertent airbag deployment.

This new recall affects 299,718 Chrysler and Dodge owners around the globe. So far the company is unaware of any issues that are reported with its system and they believe no one has gotten injured due to this failure with the ORC module. Chrysler will be sending letters out in September to have customers schedule no charge repairs at various dealerships around the country to fix this problem. At the very least, they caught this issue before it blew up like a Pinto…or a surprise airbag detonation.
