On June 26th Subaru Rally Team USA driver David Higgins took only 6 minutes and 11.54 seconds to finish the famed Mt. Washington Hillclimb, breaking the record set in 1998 by almost 30 seconds.
This record breaking run was done in Higgins’ Vermont SportsCar-prepped Subaru WRX STi rally car.

The Mt. Washington Climb to the Clouds was first run in 1904; on that run the best time was over 24 minutes. It is a race to the 6,288-foot summit of the Northeast’s tallest peak and is one of the greatest motorsports challenges for both man and machine. On Higgins’ first attempt at the run he broke the record by 20 seconds; but on this second attempt he was able to do about 8 seconds better, securing himself in the record books.
