Sir Winston Churchill and the Rolls-Royce Phantom
Carlocate.com: Well, today we interview someone who has a way with words, former Prime Minister of Great Britain, Sir Winston Churchill. Mr. Churchill the Carlocate.com readers want to know what is your favorite car.
WC: Hold on, I’m just preparing my impromptu remarks…
Carlocate.com: Uh…okay.
WC: It was an easy choice, as a consumer I am easily satisfied with the very best; therefore I went with a Rolls-Royce Phantom for my car.
Carlocate.com: Ah a very good choice but I’m sure the readers will want to know why you didn’t pick another British made car like a Lotus, Jaguar, Aston-Martin, or Bentley.
WC: They had all of the virtues I dislike and none of the vices I admire.
Carlocate.com: …okay that makes sense, moving on what color did you get your Phantom in?
WC: I cannot pretend to be impartial about the colors. I rejoice with the brilliant ones, and am genuinely sorry for the poor browns. This is why I went with Diamond Black for the exterior, Mahogany Flare Veneer, and Pine Green leather.
Carlocate.com: Yes, those colors would look great with the champagne glass storage box…speaking of champagne Mr. Churchill are you drunk right now?
WC: I may be drunk, Mister, but in the morning I will be sober and you will still be ugly.
Carlocate.com: Burned by Winston Churchill…ouch. Anyway, where do you like to drive your car?
WC: I shall drive on our island, whatever the cost of gas may be, I shall drive on the beaches, I shall drive on the landing grounds, I shall drive in the fields and in the streets, I shall drive in the hills; I shall never take public transit.
Carlocate.com: But what about all the regulations passed in Great Britain that currently make public transit more affordable and practical?
WC: If you have ten thousand regulations you destroy all respect for the law.
Carlocate.com: I take it then you weren’t a fan of the CAFE regulations that President Obama just agreed to then?
WC: You can always count on Americans to do the right thing, after they’ve tried everything else.
Carlocate.com: With an attempt to get back on topic, Mr. Churchill is there anything you don’t like about the Phantom?
WC: When I am abroad, I always make it a rule never to criticize or attack the auto manufacturers of my own country. I make up for lost time when I come home.
Carlocate.com: Is there any way we can prod you in the direction of a straight answer?
WC: I am certainly not one of those who need to be prodded. In fact, if anything, I am the prod.
Carlocate.com: I give up, this is just too hard. Anyway check back soon for another installment of Past Figures, Present Rides for a hopefully more enlightening conversation.
