Week 3

Best Car to Survive the Zombie Apocalypse Runner-Up: WaterCar Python

The WaterCar Python is a machine that looks like it would be something James Bond would lust after. Yes you read that right, lust after; it’s just that awesome. Advertised as the fastest amphibious vehicle in existence, this car can outright fly, going from 0-60 mph in 4.5 seconds. It can also get up to 125 mph on land and an astonishing 60 mph in water, as it is powered by the legendary Corvette LS engine series (you can choose from an LS1-LS9). These engines can provide anywhere from 350-600-hp and 375-604 ft-lbs of torque. This would allow you to blow past a potential zombie attack and leave them eating nothing more substantial than your dust as you cruise off to enjoy a post Z-day afternoon at the beach.

If you have ever seen a zombie movie, you know zombies can’t swim and the zombies just sort of half drown/half float in water. This would allow you to just motor off into a lake, river, or even the ocean to avoid attacks. For those of you worried about getting caught transitioning into boat mode and being caught in the opening scene from “28 Weeks Later” (a guy dies trying to get his motorboat away from the dock), fear not: the transition is immediate. That would let you drive into the water straight off the shore if need be. You then have the good fortune of being in one of the fastest boats on water.

Seating for six gives you and a few friends space to relax in as you dodge zombies on your way to freedom. A more cold blooded approach would be ditching a friend or two and stocking up on some weapons and supplies instead. On the LS series of engines, the Corvette ZR1 could get 16/26 mpg (city/highway) and comes with an 18 gallon tank. If this holds true the Python could get around 288/468 miles per tank. That would give you ample traveling distance per fill up. The only downside to this car is that it doesn’t come with a hard-top option so you may be exposed to zombie attacks in the rare occasion you get trapped by them. Active camouflage and missile launchers are rumored to be in the mix for features and extras (not really, but with this car it’s not like it would shock you).

Look back at week 2 to see one of the runners-up for Worst Car for Surviving a Zombie Apocalypse.
