Chevrolet Celebrates Release of “Transformers: Dark of the Moon” with Bumblebee Camaro

This July you can own your own Transformer. That’s right, your own Autobot sitting in your garage, well at least in car form anyway. With the release of “Transformers: Dark of the Moon” in 3D which opens today, June 29th, Chevrolet is celebrating by releasing the 2012 Transformers Special Edition Camaro which will be a $3,000 package on the 2LT and 2SS.

Featuring everything from the RS appearance package, the Transformers package also includes black rally stripes, unique high-wing rear spoiler, 20-inch black wheels with high performance summer tires, and Autobot Shield logos on the center caps and front quarter panels on the exterior. The interior features yellow stitching for the instrument panel, center console, armrests, and seats. Once again the Autobot Shield logos are featured on the front headrests and center console lid. You can also have two dealer installed options which are 21-inch, black wheels, and black ground effects kit. After all that the only add on one could ask for would be Megan Fox. Warning Megan Fox not included with the purchase of a 2012 Camaro Transformer Special Edition.

For our readers who haven’t seen “Transformers” or “Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen”, the fifth generation Camaro is the Autobot Bumblebee who is Shia LaBeouf’s “personal Transformer” so to speak. La Beouf acquires Bumblebee at a used car lot as a 1980’s third generation Camaro. About a third of the way into the movie, Bumblebee changes into a fifth generation (then brand new) Camaro and ever since then the Camaro’s popularity has skyrocketed.

This was part of Chevrolet’s massive marketing plan to re-launch the Camaro after a seven year leave from the market. In fact in 2010, the Camaro surpassed the Ford Mustang for top selling US sports car for the first time in 24 years. This adds fuel to the highly competitive Mustang vs. Camaro rivalry, that Carlocate.com blogged about last week. Transformers have benefited from the GM touch as well and the first two movies have killed at the box office generating a combined $1.5billion at the box office.

Here’s a sneak peak at the new Camaro and “Transformers: Dark of the Moon”
