When it comes to quality most American consumers are of the belief that the more it costs, the nicer it is; and this belief holds true of the auto industry as well. In a recent article from
Forbes.com a list was created that revealed what Americans think are the best cars. Despite the fact that vehicles like the
Toyota Camry and the
Ford F-150 are the best-selling vehicles in America neither Toyota, nor Ford earned spots on this list.
The American’s perception of quality puts vehicles of the luxury brands above the rest. With exception of Volkswagen all makes on the list produce vehicles for the luxury market. To make the list, Forbes took the top eight luxury brands and top eight non-luxury brands from a recent quality perception study from ALG and from a customer satisfaction survey from J.D. Power and Associates. They also selected the top eight brands from another survey from J.D. Power and Associates which revealed how owners and lessees felt about their vehicle after 90-days of ownership. The brands that placed highest on two of the three reports made the list. The final rankings for the list were based on the scores each brand earned in the first three studies.
