Mazda Recalls Cars to Prevent Damage Caused by Spider Webs
Mazda is recalling more than 50,000 Mazda6 cars from model years 2009 and 2010 because a spider could weave a web in a fuel tank vent, which could ultimately lead to a fuel leak and a risk of fire. Mazda believes the yellow sac spiders may have entered the vehicles at a supplier or assembly plant. Dealers will clean the vents and replace the fuel tank, if necessary.
Scion Redesigns “Scion City” Owner Site
Scion announced this week that its “Scion City” website for Scion owners (www.scionowners.com) has been redesigned to include improved forums, insider updates from Scion, and exclusive Owner’s Tools.
Four Subaru Models Honored by Kiplinger’s Personal Finance
Kiplinger’s Personal Finance has honored four 2011 Subaru models. The 2011 Subaru Forester 2.5 XT Premium AWD was designated “Best in Class” for small crossovers. The 2011 Impreza WRX AWD four-door sedan was named “Best Resale” in the $25,000 to $30,000 category. The 2011 Subaru Outback 2.5i LTD AWD was named “Best in Class” and “Best Resale” for wagons.
Chrysler Recognized as a Corporate Leader in Diversity
Chrysler Group LLC has been named to DiversityInc magazine’s list of “Top 50 Companies for Diversity.” To be considered for such an honor, companies must score above average in four areas: CEO Commitment, Human Capital, Corporate and Organizational Communications, and Supplier Diversity. In announcing the honor, a Chrysler spokesperson noted that “Chrysler's diversity will continue to be a source of innovation and competitive advantage, and a key factor in our growth and success."
2011 Kia Optima Earns Top Safety Rating
The 2011 Kia Optima midsize sedan has achieved an overall five-star safety rating in crash tests conducted by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). The Optima received top marks in frontal, side, and rollover impact tests and is the first Korean-built vehicle to achieve the highest rating under the new NHTSA guidelines. This is in addition to the 2011 Optima already being a “Top Safety Pick” by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS).
