Mitsubishi has announced the results of their innovative Live Drive for the 2011 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport. You may recall from our earlier posts that Live Drive was a first-of-its-kind virtual test drive that allowed consumers to control the Outlander directly from their computers over the Internet. Mitsubishi now says that 40,000 people registered on the microsite and nearly 5,000 drivers participated in Live Drive. (The automaker also noted that 38 of those people spent their entire online drive doing donuts, while 11 individuals enjoyed their entire drive in with the car in reverse).
With Live Drive, Mitsubishi also earned a spot in the Guinness Book of World Records for a new world record for the furthest distance driven by an online controlled vehicle in 24 hours – 91 miles.
