News From SEMA: Audi Introduces New Way to Charge Wireless Devices in Your Car

The SEMA Show is billed as the world’s premier automotive specialty products trade event. One of the highlights coming out of this year’s show so far is Audi’s new wireless charger that let’s you easily charge the batteries in your wireless devices. No cables, no cords, no adapters to plug in.

The new charger is powered by a single connection that charges mobile phones and PDAs within convenient reach of the driver. It’s compatible with a variety of mobile phones and co-exists with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth® signals. The Audi audio system displays that equipment is charging.

“The wireless charger is another example of how Audi is enhancing its owner experience through innovation in electronics and connectivity,” said David Tait, Audi of America lead After Sales executive.

The Audi Electronics Research Lab developed the new wireless charger with Qualcomm Incorporated and PEIKER. No word yet on price or availability.
