Earlier this year, there was a brief Internet broo-ha-ha over a Chevrolet memo that made it sound like the automaker was abandoning the “Chevy” name. Now, it appears, the automaker is ready to fully embrace that legacy and future with the new “Chevy Runs Deep” brand theme.
Ads from the “Chevy Runs Deep” campaign debuted this week during the World Series. The ads reinforce Chevrolet as an all-American brand, with a rich history and a bright future.
“As we prepare for Chevrolet’s centennial in 2011, we’re beginning a new chapter in Chevy history,” said Joel Ewanick, vice president, U.S. Marketing, for Chevrolet. “We’re proud of our heritage and eager to let people know how we can create a better future through vehicles like the Cruze, Volt and other fuel-efficient models that will be coming soon.”
Ads from the campaign will feature new cars such as the 2011 Chevrolet Cruze compact car and the Volt electric vehicle. Tim Allen is the new “voice of Chevrolet” in the videos and TV commercials from the campaign.
