Porsche Celebrates 60 Years in the U.S. with Two Distinct Contests
Sixty years ago, you might have been wearing a twinset and poodle skirt, saddle shoes, and horn-rimmed glasses, listening to Elvis, and driving around in your 1950’s Porsche. Today, you might be wearing a t-shirt and jeans, crocs, and silly bands, listening to Lady Gaga, and still be driving around in your 1950’s Porsche.
To celebrate its 60th anniversary of operating in the U.S., Porsche is searching out the oldest Porsche in the country.
A Porsche car arrives in the United States circa 1950.
The My Classic Porsche Search, which kicked off last Friday, is calling for the oldest Porsche vehicles in 12 different model categories, as well as the oldest Porsche overall.
Models included in the search are the Porsche 356, 911, 912, 914, 924, 928, 944, 968, Boxster, Cayenne, Carrera GT, and Cayman.
The winning cars and their owners will be spotlighted by Porsche in a number of ways and will have a chance to be recognized by the Porsche Museum in Stuttgart, Germany, with an exclusive badge.

My Porsche Passion Contest
Furthermore, Porsche is sponsoring a "My Porsche Passion Contest" that is open to anyone with an affinity for the automaker and its cars.
From Aug. 24 to Nov. 1, 2010, you can write a 500-word-or-less essay about your passion for Porsche, whether about a specific model, an experience with a Porsche, or the automaker itself.
The top three entries will receive an all-expense-paid trip to the Porsche driving school in Birmingham, Ala.
