There is a lot of buzz in the media around green products and going about your life with "green practices" in mind.
CarLocate is no different and we see "green cars" as important as well. But you might start to think, "what really is a green car?"
Well, some people might dig through the research section on CarLocate to pick out these cars that LOOK green. Yes, those are green but... that's not quite what we are talking about here.

Some definitions state that a green car is simply "significantly less harmful to the environment than comparable conventional vehicles". So, at what point will the convention evolve and a green car has to be yet even better? At what point do "conventional vehicles" all run on nothing but electricity? At that point, do green cars have to run strictly off of a Mr. Fusion to be considered green? Does the next generation of green cars have to then be that much LESS harmful to the environment? What is that "convention" anyways? Have we confused you yet? Don't feel bad, it isn't a perfectly clear topic.
To help you filter through the potential confusion, we have made things easy for you. As noted in an earlier blog post, we provide green search capabilities on CarLocate. We use EPA scores and combined MPG ratings when available. When used cars have a combined MPG of 23.1 or higher, we mark it as green with a leaf on the vehicle profile for quick identification. For newer cars, we are a little tougher. A newer car has to have a combined MPG of 23.1 as well as an EPA Greenhouse Gas Score of 6 or above (another criterion around fuel economy). Click on the new tab or the used tab on CarLocate and then look for the green search button to be taken straight to ONLY vehicles that are THIS kind of green.
