CarLocate Team, July 12, 2010, 10:40AM

At each major stop along the 2010 MINI Takes the States road rally route, drivers will be able to check out the 2011 MINI Countryman, the crossover version of the MINI that will debut in dealer showrooms in the first quarter of 2011.

“The Countryman is the most striking addition to our vehicle lineup so far," said Jim McDowell, vice president, MINI USA. "And development of this vehicle has inspired our engineers and designers; the brand is taking on a new, even feistier, fun-loving attitude."

In addition to the MINI Countryman’s nearly 40 cubic feet of cargo space, a key feature that is unique to this model is its innovative Center Rail. The aluminum track stretches from the front to the rear of the cabin and offers storage for personal items, electrical and USB connections for seamless integration of smart phones and other devices, and a large number of attachments to fit the driver’s lifestyle.

The MINI Countryman is expected to offer the best fuel economy in the crossover segment. It will be the first crossover to feature a turbocharged and direct-injected engine that help provide optimum performance and efficiency. Countryman powertrain options include Cooper, Cooper S, or Cooper S with ALL4, which is a four-wheel drive system.

Chevy Camaro: From New Classic to Best Seller

CarLocate Team, June 8, 2010, 08:53AM

May 2010 marked the first full year of sales for the 2010 Chevrolet Camaro… and what a year it was!

From May 2009 to May 2010, the Camaro posted 99,872 total sales, making it the best-selling sports car in the U.S. for that time period.

“When the new Camaro went on sale, it was predominantly bought by Chevrolet owners, or Camaro enthusiasts who already owned a previous generation,” said John Fitzpatrick, Camaro marketing manager. “Today, about half of 2010 Camaro buyers are new to Chevrolet, some trading in performance cars such as the (Ford) Mustang or Nissan Z to purchase their Camaro.”

The new Camaro has also garnered a host of awards:

  • “Best Buy” from Consumers Digest.
  • 2010 Drivers’ Choice Award for Best Sport Coupe from MotorWeek.
  • 2010 Automotive Excellence Award for Design from Popular Mechanics.
  • 2010 All-Star from Automobile Magazine.
  • Best "Sporty Car" in the AutoPacific Vehicle Satisfaction Awards.

GM hopes to build on Camaro’s 2010 success in the U.S. by expanding production into international markets soon.

Additionally, the new Camaro convertible will be available for order in late 2010, with production beginning in 2011.

New 2011 Cars - New Classics - 2011 Honda CR-Z

CarLocate, March 24, 2010, 02:49PM

Now that 2010 is nearly a quarter of the way through, it is beyond an appropriate time to talk about 2011 cars that are going to start rolling off of the production line very soon! One that came immediately to mind is a new Honda that brings back many memories of the "classic to some" Honda CRX. We were at the Detroit Auto Show many weeks back to get a peek at what is right around the corner...

Honda's site has a lot of good info. Our forum has a thread that shows a bunch of good photos.

Honda is quick to point out that while this car isn't one that will amaze anyone with power, it is definitely a car that was built to be fun to drive. Our thoughts are that if the CR-Z is anything like the CRX, it will drive like it is on rails and regardless of lower power than your average muscle car, it will get up and GO! Honda also points out that"the CR-Z gets an AT-PZEV rating – the cleanest for any gasoline-powered vehicle"... this means that we will see many of these popping up in Green Searches on CarLocate in what looks to be turning out to be a pretty exciting future for cars!
