Muscle Cars are Making a Comeback

CarLocate Team, October 17, 2012, 10:38AM

You’ve heard the saying history repeats itself and when it comes to muscle cars, that is most certainly the case. After being the ‘hot’ trend in the late 60s and 70s, muscle cars’ popularity declined and some were discontinued altogether. However, we are seeing an increase in demand for the meaty cars as their popularity increases once again.

Typically a fan favorite, the Ford Mustang starts off our muscle car mania list. The 2013 Mustang GT will definitely give you more bang for your buck while giving you an unbelievable amount of options to make it customized to you.  It hauls 420 horsepower from its 5.0-liter V8 engine or 650 from its 5.8-liter V8. Now that’s what we call power! SiriusXM Traffic and SiriusXM Travel Link will keep you up to date with music, traffic alerts and even gas prices. And our favorite feature  is the tinted glass roof option which still blocks out 96 percent of the sun’s UV rays.

Next on our list is the Chevy Camaro. Who doesn’t love seeing a Camaro drive by? There are a few different models available for 2013, but the latest 2SS model caught our eye. This car not only looks good, but also has all the smart, new technology that you need. With a 426 horsepower ,V8  engine, you’ve got all the force you need. This beauty of a car has many options available including: leather seats, a premium nine speaker stereo system, and a rear camera that shows up on the 7 inch touch screen radio. Talk about fancy!

Our final choice is the legendary Chevy Corvette. With its 430 horsepower all-aluminum V8 engine and 190 mph performance, you are in for a whirlwind of fun. And with the 60th Anniversary Design Package that will be available on all 2013 models, you might just have the prettiest little gem on the block. This package includes an Arctic White exterior and a Blue Diamond leather-wrapped interior. Other options include full length racing stripes in Pearl Silver Blue which run the full car length including the interior. Not enough for you? How about these impressive technologies- OnStar, SiriusXM Radio, keyless access with push start button, navigation system and a nine speaker audio system. And that is just to name a few! This one definitely tops the scales in brawn, beauty and brains.

If you decide to purchase any of these attractive beasts, don’t go playing too fast and the furious or you might get a pulled over quicker than you can blink!

Past Figures Present Rides: The Feuding Hatfield and McCoy

CarLocate Team, December 28, 2011, 10:13AM

Hatfield and the Ford Mustang and McCoy and the Chevrolet Camaro

This past weekend, CarLocate.com got the honor of sitting down with William “Devil Anse” Hatfield and Randolph “Ol’ Randell” McCoy to talk cars. Naturally, agreement and courtesy were rarer than unicorn’s blood.

CarLocate: William Hatfield and Randolph McCoy, welcome to PFPR. It’s really a pleasure to have you both sitting in one room without trying to kill each other.

Hatfield: Yessir, I reckon if thurs one thang that me an’ that swine can sit down and talk about it’s cars.

McCoy: Sure, we McCoys love aut-o-mo-beels. Ol’ Hatfield over thur wouldn’t know a good set o’ tires though if it done run over his toe.

Hatfield: Take it back, McCoy!

McCoy: I will not.

CarLocate: Alright, gentleman, that’s enough. Let’s keep this civil and talk about something that I know we all can agree on. William, why don’t you tell me a little bit about your present vehicle.

Hatfield: Well, I drive a 2012 Ford Mustang Boss 302 and it’s my pride an’ joy. ‘For the rooster crows, I’m already out thur, shynin’ it an’ carin’ for it. An she’s plenty quick wit’ that ol’ 444 horsepower V8. Quick enough to whip a McCoy I’d bet. Boy I think that grilles as purdy as pumpkin pie.

CarLocate: The “Boss” 302 is quite a car, Mr. Hatfield. And what is your ride of choice Randolph? Another Mustang?

McCoy: I wouldn’t be caught dead sittin’ in that pile of horse manoor you call a car. For a more upper class family, like the McCoys, we prefer to drive the Chevrolet Camaro SS. Nothin’ looks nicer or drives better than a Camaro an’ let me tell you I get 29 my-uls to the gallon. Camaro would beat the pants off a ‘Stang any day of the week and twice on Sunday.

Hatfield: A Camaro SS? What does the SS stand for? Slow and Sloppy? Just like the whole McCoy family.

McCoy: Sloppy? You wanna see sloppy check out a Hatfield family re-yune-yun. SS stands for ‘Specially Speedy. Listen, you ol’ sandbag I’m ill as a hornet right now an’ fixin’ to give you what you deserve.

Hatfield: The McCoys an’ thur cars call all rot in West Vurginyah. Hatfields are the most loyalist, proudest, an most of all best drivin’ families south of the Mason-Dixon.

McCoy: My sister Betsy drives betteran you with her eyes closed. I challenge you Hatfields to a drag race down by Boon’s swamp. Fastest car wins.

Hatfield: I accept your challenge even though it comes from a rat and a coward. Your momma is so…..

CarLocate: Alright, alright, let’s not bring mothers into it. Well, I guess that about wraps up this edition of PFPR. Hatfield and McCoy, thanks for joining us and let’s keep the musket-play to a minimum this weekend.

Background Information:

The Hafields and McCoys are two American families whose brutal feud has become part of legend. Some say that the rivalry began and descended from Ephraim Hatfield and William McCoy but sources are unsure as to the exact reason for dispute. Unfortunately, the feud was often steeped in violence and many people were killed due to the fierce hatred. The Hatfields and McCoys lived along the West Virginia and Kentucky back-country and were led by William Anderson "Devil Anse" Hatfield and Randolph "Ol' Randell" McCoy respectively.

New Ford Website Allows Fans to Customize their Mustang

CarLocate Team, September 19, 2011, 09:42AM

Ford has developed a website that will let enthusiasts create their very own Mustang model.  The Ford Mustang Customizer will allow enthusiasts to select colors, accessories, and decals to complement the classic design. Fans will be able to customize a Mustang V6, GT, Boss 302, or Shelby GT500 with three different backgrounds, five different angles, and hundreds of accessories from which to choose.  The website will go live on Tuesday, September 20.

“This site lets Mustang fans customize cars to their heart’s content,” said Brain McClary, Ford social and emerging media specialist. “It’s a simple-to-use layout that lets users take the base design of Mustang and run with it.”

The site also incorporates social media, as users can log in through their Facebook account and save and share all of the Mustangs they have been created.  A “battle mode” through Facebook lets users go head-to-head to see who has the best-looking car.

For those intent on making their custom car a reality, a downloadable PDF facility offers a detailed list of all the real parts used to create their particular virtual Mustang.
“Customers love to make Mustang their own, one that suits their taste; this is the perfect way to let them test out their design and imagine what’s possible,” said Jim Owens, Mustang marketing manager.

Check out the website tomorrow and start creating your own Mustang – you know the CarLocate Crew will definitely be checking it out!
