Toyota Financial Services offers New Wear & Use Protection Plan

CarLocate Team, March 28, 2012, 07:53AM
In order to enhance the leasing experience for Toyota and Lexus customers, Toyota Financial Services is offering a new plan to protect consumers who have questions about their financial responsibility for items such as dings, dents, scratches and missing parts or equipment while leasing a vehicle. The Excess Wear & Use (EWU) Protection Plan from Toyota Financial Services was developed to provide added assurance to these leasing customers.

“We developed EWU in collaboration with dealers and industry advisors with the consumer experience top-of-mind,” said Mike Groff, TFS/LFS Group Vice President of Sales, Marketing, and Product Development.  “We want to help our customers avoid unexpected charges when they return their vehicle at lease-end and provide a hassle-free, customer friendly claims process.”

EWU is a protection plan offered to TFS/LFS lease customers that waives “excess wear and use” charges they would otherwise be responsible for paying at the end of their lease term. EWU covers items that are beyond normal wear and tear, up to specificed limits, including:

  • Interior cuts, burns or stains
  • Damage to tires, rims or hubcaps
  • Broken or scratched windshield, window, mirrors or lights
  • Damaged bumpers, body dents, dings or scratches
  • Missing parts or equipments

Ford Resolves to Reduce their Water Usage

CarLocate Team, January 4, 2012, 08:53AM

Ford’s New Year’s resolution for 2012 is to further reduce the amount of water used to make vehicles and continue showing efficiency not only in their vehicles, but also in their manufacturing practices.

A new goal for Ford asks them to cut the amount of water used to make each vehicle by 30 percent globally by 2015, compared with the amount of water used per vehicle in 2009.  Between 2000 and 2010 Ford reduced it’s global water usage by 10.5 billion miles or 62 percent. “Water remains one of our top environmental priorities and our aggressive reduction target helps ensure continued focus on this critical resource,” said Sue Cischke, group vice president, Sustainability, Environment and Safety Engineering.

If Ford meets its goal of reducing water usage by 30 percent between 2009 and 2015, the amount of water used to make a vehicle will have dropped from almost 2510 gallons in 2000 to approximately 1321 gallons in 2015.  In order to help meet their goal Ford has established a cross-functional team spanning several divisions to review water usage more holistically.
